THE CLOSUREFAST PROCEDURE

ClosureFast™ procedure for varicose veins

ClosureFast™ radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins. Similar to endovenous laser therapy (EVLT/EVLA), it uses heat to seal abnormal veins. Instead of laser energy, ClosureFast™ delivers controlled radiofrequency energy, gently heating the vein wall to close the faulty channel.

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic, so most patients walk in and walk out the same day without the need for general anaesthesia or hospital admission.

What to expect during the ClosureFast™ procedure

  • Small incision: A tiny incision is made below the knee.

  • Ultrasound guidance: The ClosureFast™ catheter is inserted into the diseased vein using ultrasound.

  • Segmental treatment: Each 7 cm segment receives a 20-second burst of radiofrequency energy, shrinking and sealing the vein wall.

  • Progressive closure: The catheter is withdrawn in stages until the entire vein is closed.

  • Efficient timing: A typical 45 cm vein can be treated in 3–5 minutes.

Once the vein is sealed, blood naturally reroutes to healthy veins, improving circulation and relieving symptoms.

Why choose ClosureFast™?

ClosureFast™ is a safe, effective, and well‑established alternative to vein stripping or laser ablation, offering rapid relief from symptoms such as aching, swelling, and visible varicose veins.
